Service Description

We aim to tailor your cat's wellness care and vaccination program to their specific lifestyle and health needs, always with an emphasis on feline-friendly handling techniques. We base our advice on your cat's life stage according to the guidelines published by the American Animal Hosptial Association, American Association of Feline Practitioners and the International Society of Feline Practitioners. The Feline Life Stage Guidelines recommend that your cat's healthcare plan be broken down into the following categories: 1. Kitten - birth to <1 year of age 2. Young adult - 1 to 6 years of age 3. Mature adult - 7 to 10 years of age 4. Senior - > 10 years of age During your visit we will discuss the following: - The minimum number of annual examinations recommended for your cat's life stage - Normal cat behaviour and how to spot any signs of distress, anxiety, boredom and/or pain in your cat - An appropriate vaccination schedule for your cat's life stage and lifestyle. These will incur an additional charge if administered at this visit (F3 vaccination-$35, FIV vaccination-$45). - Microchipping and desexing procedures if necessary - Preventative parasite control - Ideal daily food types and amounts, as well as a weight management program, if needed - Any prior health issues and how they might impact on your cat's future wellness plans - Any relevant breed predispositions - Preventative dental care - Any relevant health issues particular to your cat's life stage, and how to potentially detect these via observation of your cat at home (e.g. water intake, weight changes and appetite, mobility, elimination habits) or via appropriate pathology and imaging tests - Any environmental changes needed to enhance your cat's quality of life During each visit your cat will undergo a complete physical examination. Some very nervous cats may need medications on the day of their appointment to relieve veterinary-visit anxiety. Please give us a call prior to your visit, if you think this would be of assistance for your cat. We follow the World Small Animal Veterinary Association's vaccination guidelines when formulating your cat's individualised vaccination program. Antibody testing in lieu of vaccination is also available by request.
